I had been following Indian Idol 5 regularly on TV before coming to NITIE. During that time, I saw an episode where the Music Director Pritam was the Guest Judge. The whole hysteria and excitement surronding his presence in the Indian Idol episode was another proof of his establishment as the one of the best contemporary music directors in Bollywood.(When I say contemporary, I mean the first decade of the 21st century ......) And why not..... ? Name any Bollywood chartbuster of the last two or three years. More often than not it'll turn out that Pritam Da would have composed the music for that. And here I start in reverse chrnological order.....

I was happy that he got the Best Music Award for Love Aaj Kal at IIFA after losing the Filmfare to Rahman's Delhi 6 compositions. Personally, I felt that Love Aaj Kal was a better contender for the award.
His success is commendable because of the fact that even inspite of taking so many projects on to his shoulders, the quality of music doesn't suffer..... In fact, in one of the interviews he himself
agreed that he has taken over the baton from Himesh Reshammiya who used to be the composer for every second movie 3 or 4 years back.
And as far as the alleged charges of plagiarism against him are concerned, let's look at how many original masterpieces he has composed. And then ....the charges will definitely look very small.
